Sensory-Processing Differences: What Out-of-Sync Kids Want Their Grown-ups to Know
Geared for parents and teachers of children ages 2 – 12, this presentation explains common types of sensory processing differences and offers fun and functional activities to help kids develop sensory-motor skills while getting “in sync” with other people and their environment.
This session will help you to:
- Summarize how to put on imaginary Sensory Spectacles and “read” what a child’s behavior means.
- Demonstrate how ordinary household items can be amazing sensory-motor tools and toys.
- Describe how active movement and hands-on fun develop attention, interaction, and satisfaction.

No More Meltdowns
Neuro-affirmative Approaches to Challenging Moments
This session provides both the tools for de-escalation and regulating out of control emotions, and creating prevention plans to reduce these difficult moments in the future.
Jed will discuss:
- Categorize the components of a meltdown.
- Describe how to accept and appreciate our children.
- List the components of how to de-escalate a meltdown.
- Explain why repeat problems occur.
Key Components of Social Development
Helping Clients Develop the Skills to Reach Their Own Goals
This session focuses on how to identify, teach and generalize key social skills to increase social success including conversation, friendship, dating and conflict management.
Jed will discuss:
- Demonstrate how emotion management affects children.
- Compare and contrast how verbal and non-verbal communication is used in interventional sessions.
- Explain the importance of play and group interaction.
- Demonstrate teaching empathy, the ins and outs of friendship, and dating.
- Describe how to teach conflict management.
